"RED SULPHUR SPRINGS — Benno B. Belcher, 91, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at Springfield Care Center, Lindside. "Born Jan. 27, 1916, at Belcher Mountain in McDowell County, he was the son of the late James Owen and Susan Bower Belcher. "Mr. Belcher was a retired tile finisher and a farmer. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church at Red Sulphur Springs, and enjoyed going to the Senior Citizens Center at Lindside. "In addition to his parents, Mr. Belcher was preceded in death by his wife, Alta Mae Belcher; a daughter, Iris Gill; a son, Billy Joe Belcher; four brothers, Fred, Roy, Carroll and Walter; three sisters, Frances Lively, Laura Buckland and Ruby Green; and a grandson, Jerry Fox. "Survivors include two sons, Hubert Belcher and wife, Nancy, of Red Sulphur Springs and Tommy Belcher and wife, Mary Alice, of Woodbridge, Va.; a daughter, Susan Rogers and husband, Graham, of Greenville; a brother, Dave Belcher of Fredericksburg, Va.; 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. "Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 6, at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel, Peterstown, with the Rev. John Offenberger officiating. Burial will follow at Orchard Cemetery, Ballard..."
