"PRINCETON — Henry Blankenship Jr., 83, of Old Bluefield Road, Princeton, formerly of Maitland, died early Friday morning, March 9, 2007, at Princeton Community Hospital. Born Dec. 15, 1923 in Iroquois, he was the son of the late Henry and Rinda Milam Blankenship. Mr. Blankenship was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Navy. He held a lifetime membership in the American Legion Post No. 8 of Welch. "Mr. Blankenship retired from the McDowell County Board of Education in the Maintenance Department. He was a member of Airport Church of God, Bluefield. Henry loved playing musical instruments, making music, and listening to bluegrass and gospel music. He had moved from Maitland to Princeton in 2002. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Marushia Blankenship, along with three brothers, Cecil, Eddie and Johnny Blankenship. "Survivors include his only child, Libby Rotenberry and her husband Jay of Princeton; two grandchildren, Jill Hensley and Andrea Rotenberry, both of Princeton; two great grandchildren, Shane and Brooke Hensley; siblings, Stella Akers of Fayetteville, N.C., Thelma Sliger and David Blankenship, both of Lakeland, Fla., Shelby Haskins and Elmer Blankenship, both of Flint, Mich., Teddy Blankenship of Tennessee, Jimmy Blankenship of Premier, Buddy Blankenship of Welch; a host of nieces and nephews. "Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2007, from the Burns Wornal Chapel of Memorial Funeral Directory on Athens Road in Princeton with Pastors Dana Hambrick and Virginia Russ officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of the Wildwood Mausoleum of the Roselawn Memorial Gardens on Courthouse Road in Princeton.
