"Tommy worked for 21 years at Farmbest Dairies of Welch. He spent 16 1/2 years working as a motor operator at U.S. Steel No. 50 Pinnacle Coal Mine in Pineville until he became disabled from a mine accident. He was a member of UMWA Local 1713 Union in Pineville, he served on the Davy Town Council. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Welch.
"In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 45 years, Dorothy Glass Hale; five sisters, Carrie Burns, Elsie Cantu, Beaulah Muncy, June Baldwin and Ruby Stroupe; three brothers, Clarence, Lawrence and Elbert Hale.
"He is survived by two daughters and one son, Pamela McPeak and husband James of Athens, Connie Sarks and husband Darren of Princeton and Wesley Hale of Davy; brother, Eldridge Hale of Welch; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren in whom he took great pleasure and pride, Sherri Hanks, Priscilla Byrd, Christopher Winkler, Brittany Winkler, Jessica Sarks, Wesley Hale Jr., Alicia Hale and Nikki Hale; two great-grandchildren, Kameron and Benjamin Underwood.
