ENGLISH - Alice Vivian Perdue, 93, of English, died Sunday, June 15, 2003 at Princeton Community Hospital.
Born May 21, 1910, in North Tazewell, Va., she was the daughter of the late Hasque Yates and Melissa Parks Yates. She was a homemaker, and raised seven children alone.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Sidney Perdue; two sons, Sid Junior Perdue and Robert Evert Perdue; two daughters, Dovie Marie Perdue and Joann Perdue Boyd; three brothers, Charlie Yates; two sisters, Mary Lockhart and Bennie Kennedy; and five grandchildren, Keith Allen Perdue, Joel William Deel, Lynn Ann Collins, Sylvia Perdue and Michael Joseph Mosser.
She is survived by four sons, Bill Perdue of English, Glenwood Perdue of Bartley, Mr. and Mrs. Perry (Bobbie) Perdue of Bartley, and Mr. and Mrs. James (LoJean) Perdue Glade Springs; two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Dave (Elizabeth) Kennedy of Bartley, and Mr. and Mrs. (Florence) Blankenship of Jupitor, Fla.; and 35 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Yukon Pentecostal Church, Yukon. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton.
Mrs. Perdue will be taken to her home in English Thursday where friends may call after 6 p.m. On Friday she will be taken to the church where friends may call after 6 p.m.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The Douglas Funeral Home of War is in charge of arrangements."
