"ALDERSON - Woodrow W. Bower, 86, died Monday, Aug. 23, 1999, in a Fairlea medical center. Born Oct. 9, 1912, at Bower¹s Ridge, Wyoming County, he was the son of the late Wiley C. and Christine Belcher Bower. He was the 11th of 12 children. Mr. Bower had been a resident of Alderson since 1954 and was a member and elder of Alderson Presbyterian Church for 40 years. He was a school teacher for 40 years and was a very popular high school official for more than 25 years. He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife of more than 65 years, Annie Jane Handley Bower; three sons, W.F. Bower and wife, Dottie, of Ravenna, Ohio, Fred Bower and wife, Jan, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Jim Bower and wife, Elizabeth of Lewisburg; a sister, Sally Neal of Ripley; a brother, Charles Bower of Princeton; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Alderson Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Deana Armstrong and Stewart McMurray officiating. Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. today at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home, Lewisburg. Donations of sympathy may be made to Alderson Presbyterian Church.
