"Mrs. Blanche Yates Bailey, 92, formerly of Robinhood Road and Brookridge Retirement Community, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born March 13, 1914, in Welch, McDowell County, W.Va., to the late Mordecai N. Yates and Georgia May Howard Yates. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and Grace Sunday School Class. She was a graduate of Wilkesboro High School and Draughon Business College. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Elwood Bailey, on July 6, 1985. She continued to operate R.E. Bailey Real Estate after her husband's death. She was preceded in death by a sister, Myrtle Yates Mason, and two brothers, Burnes G. Yates and Everett W. Yates. Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Bailey Morgan and husband Dr. Douglas Morgan of Fort Myers, Fla., and Janet Bailey Gordon and husband John W. Gordon Jr. of Pfafftown; a granddaughter, Michelle Janet Gordon (Glenn Green) of Winston-Salem; two nephews, Burnes G. Yates Jr. and wife Shelva of Winston-Salem, Bob Yates and wife Kathy of Clemmons; a niece, Jerrie Mason Howell and husband Keith of Sparta; two sisters-in-law, Thelma Yates of Winston-Salem and Hazel Bailey of Clemmons. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 6, at Forsyth Memorial Park, with Pastor Eric Davis officiating. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Metro Nurses Inc. and to Mrs. Bailey's caregiver, Linda Ryan, and to her very special caregiver, Traci Cardwell. "Born April 29, 1912, at Cyclone, she was the baby daughter of 10 children of the late D.M. "Clell" Brown and Fannie Bell Bailey Brown.
"Inez was the longest living member of Bright Prospect Missionary Baptist Church where she became a member at the age of 17. She was baptized May 29, 1929, by the Rev. Bruce Bailey. Inez was loved by all who knew her; she will be dearly missed.
"In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lee Blankenship; a son, Stacey Lee Blankenship; five sisters, Maggie Harless, Nettie A. Brown, Nellie Jane Toler, Icie Bell Brown and Nancy Stella Toler Garten; four brothers, Dewey A. Brown, Leonard H. Brown, Lacey R. Brown and wife, Jane, and Sherman Wade Brown; two grandsons, Freddie Franklin Daniels and Bobby Lee Brown Jr.; son-in-law, Bobby Lee Brown Sr.; a granddaughter, Lois Ann Daniels; two great-granddaughters, Erin Mikkal Cobb and Christina Hope Blankenship; and a nephew, Nathan Toler, and niece, Bradie Mae Garten, who were raised by Clell and Fannie Brown.

"...children were John Houck, a Confederate soldier, George, Winton;Jesse, Thomas, Elizabeth,
Alice, and Henry Martin Houck, who married Minnie Ray, daughter of Henry and Cynthia Ray, in
North Carolina. Henry encountered financial difficulties in his mercantile business and decided to
locate elsewhere. In 1904 he brought his wife and nine children, in a covered wagon, to Wyoming
County, West Virginia, which was then entering an era of prosperity ushered in by construction of the
Virginia Railway and establishment of Ritter Lumber Company at Estelle (Maben). Eight days of
travel brought tyhem to a location convenient to the lumber camp and railroad construction. At the
"paper town" of Pierpoint he made his permant home. In the course of his life Houck was a farmer,
merchant, contractor,school teacher, member of Wyoming County Boad of Education, Justice of the
Peace of Slab Fork District, and member of the Board of Equalization of Review; children of this
marriage were:..."
