The third oldest of eight children, he was the last surviving member of his family. "In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Virgil, Vernie, Melvin and Bobby Trent; sisters, Octavia Chambers, Ruby Miller and Minnie Sowards; son-in-law, Danny J. Ross; and granddaughter, Kelli Evonne Ross. "He was employed by the West Virginia Division of Highways and retired from the Wyoming County Board of Education. "Survivors include his wife, Rayola Toler Trent; three daughters, Roberta Farmer and husband, Donald, of Hurricane, Rexanna Shumaker and husband, Charles, of Milton and Yvonne Trent of Murphy, N.C.; three sons, Kenneth Trent and wife, Marie, of Flippin, Ariz., Bennie Trent and wife, Sandy, of Yellsville, Ariz., and Clinton Trent and wife, Colleen, of Crystal Lake, Ill.; four grandchildren, Craig Farmer and his wife, Leticia, of San Antonio, Texas, Chris King and his wife, Jennifer, of Murphy, Kevin Farmer of Durham, N.C., and Megan King of Atlanta, Ga.; and three great-grandchildren, Isabella and Jared Farmer of San Antonio and Andrew King of Murphy.
