"Welch, W. Va., Aug.29 - Arthur Walker, 22, and U.S. Newcombe, of Litwar, were in the county jail
here today awaiting arraignment on murder charges in connection with the shotgun killing last
Friday night of Arnold Walker, 29, brother of Arthur.
"Date for preliminary hearing had not been set.
"Deputy Sheriffs John Hagy and Troy Vance reported that Arnold Walker was killed in an
exchange of shotgun fire with his brother and Newcombe to climax a drinking party at the
Newcombe home.
"Arnold Walker was a veteran of the last war, having entered the army on August 19, 1941. He
was discharged in December 1943.
"Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Jennie Walker of Litwar; a sister Mrs. Essie Mitchum of
Roderfield,
and the brother Arthur and two half brothers, Beno Walker of Litwar, Wade Walker of Iaeger.
"Funeral service was conducted today from the home in Litwar. Burial took place in Iaeger
Memorial cemetery at Roderfield".

Charged with murder, U.S. Newcombe and Arthur Walker, both of Litwar, waived preliminary
hearing when arraigned before Justice of the Peace Mack M. Day here yesterday. They were
bound over for the grand jury action and remaineded to the McDowell county jail when they failed
to post bond.
"The two men are charged jointly in connection with the shotgun slaying of Arthur Walker's brother,
Arnold.
" Arnold was shot to death outside the Newcombe home, last Friday. The shooting, officers said,
followed a drinking party."
