"PETERSTOWN - Harold C. Bailey, 94, of HC 81 28E, formerly of Route 1, Lilac Hills, Princeton, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at the home of his son. Born Nov. 15, 1906, in Crumpler, he was the son of the late William Wheeler and Mary A. Bailey. Mr. Bailey had been a resident of Bozoo for 31 1/2 years and was a member of Carr Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a retired coal miner from United Pocahontas Coal Co. in Crumpler with 40 years of service. He was also a member of the UMWA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gracie C. Grose Bailey; a son, Donald Bailey; a grandson; and eight brothers. Survivors include two daughters, Esther Barber of Beckley and Dottie Riffle and her husband, Cecil, of Princeton; two sons, Paul Bailey and his wife, Louise, of Bozoo and Richard Bailey and his wife, Brenda, of Hanceville, Ala.; three sisters, Ora Jones of Timberlake, N.C., Rennie Iddings of Bluewell and Minnie Hamm of Winston-Salem, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel, Bluewell, with the Revs. Robert Shields, and Charles Martin and Richard Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens..."
