"MILL CREEK - Leonard Bailey, 78, entered into a new life Friday, May 11, 2001, at his residence following a one-year illness. Born Jan. 26, 1923, at Glen Fork, he was the son of the late Green and Leola Accord Bailey. Mr. Bailey was a retired coal miner, last working at Island Creek Coal Co. He was a member of Mill Creek Freewill Baptist Church and the Baileysville Sportsman's Club. He was preceded in death by a son, Joe Bailey, in 1975; a brother, Earl Bailey; and four sisters, Virgie Adams, Ruth Mitchell, Lillie Thompson and Nancy Graham. Mr. Bailey was the last surviving member of his family. Survivors include his devoted wife of 59 years, Mae Ferguson Bailey; three daughters, Myrtle "Tupie" Blankenship and her husband, Theodore, of Pineville, Faye Lester and her husband, Fred, of Catlettsburg, Ky., and Lisa Lambert of Pineville; four sons, Buddy Bailey and his wife, Nancy, of Pittsburgh, Bob Bailey and his wife, Barbara, of Hebron, Ohio, Wayne Bailey and his wife, Barbara, of Mill Creek and Gary Bailey of Leesville, S.C.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many loving nephews, nieces, friends and neighbors.
