Born Nov. 30, 1889, in Wyoming County, she was a daughter of the late Isaac and Nancy Gunoe Bailey. Her husband, William Wirt Cook died in 1957. Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Nina Mitchell of Bob White, Mrs. Gladys Kirk of Bloomingrose and Mrs. Mary Mitchell of Gordon; one son, Carson P, of Newcastle, Ind.; 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. "Born Feb. 2, 1913, at Jesse, she was the daughter of the late Delbert and Letha Cook Bowden. "Mrs. Combs was a lifelong resident of Wyoming County and a member of Cook Memorial Baptist Church, Pineville. She enjoyed her family, church and bird watching. She was always happy and her laughter was contagious. "In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Ocel, Virgil, Basil and her twin brother Creel; a half sister, Delores; and three grandchildren. "Survivors include two sons, Teddy Combs Jr. and his wife, Nancy, of Rupert and James Combs and his wife, Phyllis, of Ravencliff; two daughters, Mary Church of Oceana and Mildred Caldwell and her husband, John, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a brother, Tracy Bowden of Cleveland, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and her ex-husband, Teddy Combs Sr. of Oceana.
