He attended the Church of God at Ravencliff, WV. Bruce was also preceded in death by five brothers Eldred Shumate, Dale Amos Shumate, Lincoln Dean Shumate and two infant brothers; four sisters Melba Hill, Bonnie C. Shumate, Annabelle Webb and an infant sister. Survivors include two brothers Jesse Shumate of McGraws, WV and Buddy Darrell Shumate of McGraws, WV; his caretakers Wanda Thompson, Debbie Trump, Faith George, Wanda Shumate, Betty and Jim Gregorio, and Ann Sinecoff; his special little friend Malachi Thompson; the many children he helped raise; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews and other loving family and friends. Graveside services will be held at Noon on Thursday September 23, 2010 at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Ravencliff, WV with Rev. Ira Lafferty officiating. Bruce will be laid to rest in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Ravencliff, WV..."
