"Glenda Marie Miller, 76, of Gilbert, departed this life on Friday, February 6, 2009, at Carolyn's Care Center at Verner."Born on November 22, 1932 at Emmett, she was the daughter of the late Robert "Omar" Brooks (1909-1975) and Hilda Jones-Brooks (1910-1973).
"In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Spurgeon T. Miller (1925-1999) whom she married on November 6, 1950 in Clear Fork, Wyoming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Wyoming County, WV, 1950, Page 20, Application Date: November 2, 1950); a brother, James Oley Brooks (1930-1930); and a sister, Louise Brooks (1935-1936).
"Glenda was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She had been employed as a cook for the Wyoming County Board of Education. She was known as the best cook in the county and had the reputation as a fantastic housekeeper, member of Honeysuckle Garden Club, and Gilbert Senior Citizen.
"Those left to love and cherish the memory of Glenda are: her two sons: Jerry (Jennifer) Miller of Gilbert and Rick (Theresa) Miller of Bristol VA; her daughter, Lynn (Ron) Miller-Ricks of Austin TX; her grandchildren: Alan & Quinn Miller of Gilbert, Aaron & Jason Ricks of Austin TX; and Danielle Miller of Bristol VA; her sister, Eloise Brooks-Ratliff (B. 1935) of Princeton; and a host of other dear family and friends, all who will miss her greatly.
