"PINEVILLE — Charles W. “Buddy” Cook Jr., 79, passed away Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, in Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, following a short illness. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend and business associate whose greatest joy was in giving of himself to benefit his fellow man. This world is a better place for his having been here for 79 years. "Born on April 15, 1930, at Pineville, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Mamie L. Beverly Cook. "Buddy was a graduate of Pineville High School and a member of Cook Memorial Baptist Church. "In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carla Cook Belcher; two brothers, Howard Cook and the Rev. Paul E. Cook; and a sister, Rita Thompson. "Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 581⁄2 years, Clara Dee Cook; two daughters, Brenda Browning and her husband, Gary, of Pineville and Tammy Justus and her husband, Corbet, of Pineville; a sister, Henrietta Muhlbrandt of New Richmond; five grandchildren, Brandon Blaylock, Julie Curd, Brian Belcher, Chad Belcher and Josh Lumbo; a step grandson, Hunter Justus; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and many friends. "A celebration of Buddy’s life will be 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at Cook Memorial Baptist Church, Pineville, with the Rev. Keith Reed and the Rev. Donald “Doc” Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny...."
