Born in Daytona Beach, Mr. Johns retired in 1995 as a horticulturist for Memorial Hospital-West Volusia."He was a member of First Baptist Church of Pine Lakes, where he was a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. He loved his family, music, the outdoors, writing and playing the guitar.
Mr. Johns served in the U.S. Marine Corps."He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Libby; three sons, Calvin, Tony and Steven, all of DeLand; a daughter, Elaine Johns of DeLand; four brothers, Ronald of Gainesville, Harry Ray of DeLand, Randol of New Smyrna Beach and Daniel McKinnzy of Glenview, Ga.; three sisters, Melody Whitesides and Sherry Price, both of New Smyrna Beach, and Leilani Hodges of Holly Hill; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild."
