"Noah Mitchem, 77, of Gary, a pioneer resident of McDowell county, died this morning at the home
of a son, Carl Mitchem, of Carswell."A native of Giles county, Va., he was born March 26, 1872, a son of the late Thomas Mitchem and
Prisie Mitchem. He came to McDowell county at the age of 2 years and resided here since. He was
a retired miner.
"Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Vicie Mitchem; two sons, Carl and John, both of Carswell and three
daughters, Mrs. Link Hughes of Gary, Mrs. Bertha McKinzie of Premier and Mrs. Evelyn Stephens
of Gary. Two children preceded him in death.
"Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The body is being prepared for burial by th O.J. Douglas
