"Ira Hooker Addair, 89, of Iaeger, died Sunday, April 29, 2007 at Princeton Community Hospital, Princeton, following a brief illness. A lifelong resident of McDowell County, she was born in Bartley, Aug. 16, 1917 a daughter of the late Ballard and Grace Cyphers Hooker. She attended Big Creek High School and graduated from Iaeger High School. She was a homemaker and a retired United States Postal Worker with 25 years of service at the Avondale Post Office. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Addair; a son, Robert G. Addair; and four brothers, Herman, Clarence, Elmo and William Hooker. Survivors include two sons, Jack Addair of Iaeger and Joseph Addair and wife Gail of Bandon, Ore.; four daughters, Mildred Murensky of Springfield, Va., Joyce Vinciguerra of Ashland, Ky., Linda Perdue and husband Richard of Roanoke, Va., and Wanda Crawford of Huntington; one sister, Blanche Shortridge of Tazewell, Va.; six grandchildren, Catherine Murensky of Leesburg, Va., Kimberly Stephens of Perryton, Texas, Michelle Vinciguerra of Bluefield, Jack Addair Jr. of Allegan, Mich., Mark Murensky of Greenville, N.C., and Robert Crawford of Huntington; six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. "Foster was born April 14, 1933 at Rockridge near Paynesville, WV, a son of the late James Harvey and Lou Emma Wallace Addair. He was a retired coal miner with 37 1/2 years in the mines. He was also an active member of the UMWA for 50 plus years. Foster was of the Pentecostal Faith. He enjoyed watching Reverend Donald Harding on the Living Faith Channel, and loved playing his guitar and banjo for the Lord.
"In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Cassie L. Matney, two half brothers, 2 half sisters, and his second mother, his mother-in-law, Cassie Vanover Wimmer.

"CARETTA , Maudie Dunford Addair, 84, of Caretta, died Thursday, July 12, 2007 at the Hugh Chatham Nursing Center in Elkin, N.C. Ms. Addair was born Jan. 14, 1923 in Bartley. She was a daughter of the late Bill and Fannie Dunford, a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, her husband, Walter Kelly Addair, preceded her in death on Jan. 31, 2003; and one brother, Homer, and one sister, Lou also preceded her in death. Survivors include three sons, Harold Addair and wife Lois of Yukon, David Addair and wife Mabel and Paul Allen Addair all of Caretta; three daughters, Brenda Addair Gordon and late husband Jerry of Yadkinville, N.C., Linda Kay Collins and husband Fred also of Yadkinville, and Pamela Marlene Addair Hicks and husband Joe of Bristol, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Sheri, Rhea, Kelly Darla, Brian, Brittany, and Angela; and seven great grandchildren. "Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2007 at the chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in War, with Elder Jack Horne and the Rev. Lacy Griffith officiating. Burial will follow in the Riffe Cemetery on Garland Mountain near Garland..."

He was a resident of Caretta most of his life and was a truck driver. He was of the Baptist faith.Survivors include two brothers, Harold Addair and wife, Lois of Yukon, W.Va. and David Addair and wife, Mabel of Caretta, W.Va.; three sisters, Brenda Gordon and Kaye Collins and husband, Fred all of Hamptonville, N.C. and Marlene Hicks and husband, Joe of Rogersville, Tenn.; five nieces and two nephews.Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2009 at the Caretta United Methodist Church in Caretta, W.Va. with the Rev.
